Amie Procter Cert CII, Home & Legacy Insurance Services

A levels I Account Executive

What is your role?

Account Executive

What do you do in a typical working day?

I work on quotations for new business and deal with mid-term adjustments for existing business. I am predominantly on the phones but will occasionally go to see some key brokers to develop the relationship further.

What were you doing before this role?

I was studying, in my first year of A levels.

How does your role fit into the business?

As an Account Executive my role is to manage relationships with brokers – we work closely together to ensure the best outcome for the end customer. The broker market is our main source of business and the volume of work that comes in is quite high, so keeping the relationships with our brokers is key to the company’s success.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Getting stuck into the bigger cases which involve high premiums, high levels of jewellery, large properties and also on the odd occasion when we see a celebrity. This does take a lot of time so when we get the confirmation of cover this is hugely satisfying.

What is the most challenging part of your role?

The most challenging part of my role is actually what I enjoy the most!   A complex/large case which can be hard to deal with and takes up a lot of time and puts pressure on your workload but is really satisfying.

What do you need to be successful in your role?

Driven and hard-working.

Have you taken any professional qualifications?

I have completed my CII Certificate in Insurance and am now working towards my CII Diploma.

What have been your career highlights so far?

Achieving my Level 4 underwriting authority and becoming the youngest Level 4 in Home & Legacy’s history.

What are the main benefits of working in the profession?

There are so many sections that you can work in. You are not just limited to one aspect as you can work in commercial, motor, residential, casualty, PI etc.

What do you think you will be doing this time next year?

Continuing with my personal development to get my CII Diploma in Insurance.

Why did you choose a career in insurance?

My work experience with Home & Legacy was really enjoyable and gave me a great insight into the insurance world. This made me think about what I wanted to do and how quickly I wanted to start my career. As the insurance sector provides lots of development opportunities and my experience at H&L was so positive I decided that a job in insurance would be the right thing for me. I was really happy to find a role at H&L.  « Back to case studies
